The 9th Balkan Half Marathon took place in Zagreb today along with the International Zagreb21 Half Marathon. There were 32 registered athletes from 9 Balkan Countries and over 800 participants in the mass race.

The race director Robert Franjkovic together with the hosting federation of Croatia did a great job with the organisation, making sure to meet the recommendations of the health authorities. All the athletes were required to wear face masks at the start line and were allowed to take them off after the start. The weather was also great - warm but cloudy and fresh.

Maxim Raileanu of Moldova won the men's race in 1:05:58, followed by Yavuz Agrali and Murat Emektar of Turkey, 1:06:23 and 1:06:56 respectively. The team of Turkey was first, Moldova second and Romania third.

The fastest woman was Fatma Demir of Turkey. She finished in 1:13:48. Bojana Bjeljac of Croatia was second in 1:13:56 and Militsa Mircheva, Bulgaria was third in 1:13:59. The Ladies' team ranking is Croatia, Buglaria, Turkey.
